Why do people own crystals?
Crystals are one of many ancient healing therapies. You can tuck them in your pocket or purse, in a particular room in your home and/or office, or on you, as in wearing it as jewelry, so that it touches your skin.
It’s believed that crystals draw out negative energies as well as provide positive energies of all sorts. They’ve also been known to cure ailments and protect against disease.
A popular crystal is Selenite because it can clear unwanted energy and make way for creativity and productivity in your life.
There are countless other crystals that possess a variety of positive properties. But wearing them or carrying them is not where the responsibility ends for someone who uses crystals. You must be sure to cleanse them.
Why do I have to cleanse my crystals?
Everything is energy. And crystals absorb energy from you, other people, and the environment in which they are located or were harvested. As a result of absorbing all that energy from different locations and people, it is necessary to clean them of others’ energy before using them.
When you clean crystals, you clean them of all energy—both positive and negative—bringing the crystals back to their most authentic energy.
Once you’ve cleansed your crystal, you must charge it. No batteries are involved! To charge your crystal, you simply provide an intention to the crystal for what you want it to do. You’re programing that crystal to do a certain job for you or to be used during a certain activity. For example, a Lapis Lazuli would be a good one to use for writers. So, after I’ve cleared it, I would hold it and first ask if the crystal wanted to aid me in my journey of writing. If I felt positive, excited, happy and joyous, I would know that it was a ‘yes’ and that the crystal wanted to work with me to write. I would then continue to hold it and place my intention that it will be used for writing.
Is there one best way to cleanse my crystals?
The answer is no! You can:
- Smudge it with sage or Palo Santo
- Place it on top of a Selenite Slab
- Place it on a window sill on a full moon so it is both cleansed and charged
- Place in a bowl of brown rice
- Crystal Sprays
- Salt water: CAUTION with this one. You must be careful doing this. Make sure your crystal will not be ruined by the salt or the water.
- Sound: Tuning forks or singing bowls
How often should I cleanse my crystals?
Whether you purchased your crystals, or they were given to you as a gift, you still need to cleanse them when you first get them. You don’t have to cleanse them if the person who gave them to you has already cleansed and programmed it for you, as long as you are in agreement with the programming.
If other people handle your personal crystal, you would cleanse them as well. And, even if no one else touches your crystal, you might feel that it just needs to be rid of all the energy that it’s absorbed from you! You’ll know when it needs to be recharged.
All in all, there is no set time to cleanse your crystals. It really depends on your use of them, and how they feel to you.
One of my favorite modalities in holistic healing is crystals. I am guided by spirit on my clients’ needs, so if you’d like to find out more about them or choose the perfect one for you, let’s talk so we can see which one or ones resonate with you. I also create bracelets, Malas and necklaces from crystals, and only use crystals that come from reliable sources, and are reasonably priced. Just let me know when you’re ready to start the journey!
